Beaches of Southern Rhode Island

I see a surprising number of parallels between Rhode Island and my home state of South Australia. Very similar population sizes. A bit of an individual identity, too — Adelaide isn’t Melbourne or Sydney, and Providence isn’t New York or Boston. They’re complete opposites in terms of physical size, but the little coastal towns have more than a passing similarity.

Had a great June Sunday with my daughter, visiting the beaches of southern Rhode Island.

We started at Narragansett Beach — which of course an Adelaidean would shorten to “the Nar” or “the Narra.” A bustling little beach.

Then further south to Scarborough Beach: relaxed, with a lovely old-school beach pavilion.

Lastly to Galilee for a lobster roll, ice cream and an evening walk.
